ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Significant data for this program is derived
from the advertising material of Premier/Cool-Air, of Phoenix,
Arizona.
CLUB ARIZONA - Home of the Phoenix Sauna
This program was written as a result of a particularly high
electric bill, and the need for me to develop proficiency in
TurboC. This program will provide an indication of how
effective a swamp cooler could be expected to be, given the
current temperature and humidity.
This program has one major operation, and compared with the
other software currently available, is noticebly lacking in
frills. With the hot, muggy weather in Phoenix, it should
provide the user with information he needs to keep his electric
bill from being so rediculously high.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: This program was written and tested an a
10 MHz XT with 640K and a CGA monitor. I have no reason to
suspect that it would fail to work on any XT/AT machine with DOS
versions 2.xx and higher.
This software requires that ANSI.SYS be installed in RAM prior
to running the program. In addition, this program makes full
use of color ANSI graphics, and a color monitor is highly
recommended.
The following files are needed to run this program. They should
all be on the same disk, and in the same directory when the
program is run:
CLUBARIZ.EXE
SCREEN01.PIX
SCREEN02.PIX
SCREEN03.PIX
SCREEN04.PIX
The following file has been provided, but is not required to run
the program:
CLUBARIZ.DOC
STARTING THE PROGRAM: With the above files in the current
directory, type the following at the DOS command prompt:
CLUBARIZ <enter>
Upon completion, this program exits to DOS normally, and passes
no explicit error codes to the system.
USING THE PROGRAM: The program will display an information
screen for a short time, then display the main program screen.
A message to select an option will appear. Enter a one-letter
command to proceed.
SUMMARY OF COMMANDS
[E] Enter Data
This command will permit the user to enter the current
temperature and humidity. The program will display the
predicted effectiveness of a swamp cooler in these
conditions.
The acceptable range for the temperature is 70-140
degrees F. The acceptable range for humidity is
0-100 percent. Values outside of this range will
produce an error message. Press any key to proceed past
this message, and enter the value again.
[I] Information
This command will display the opening information
screen. Press any key to return to the main screen.
This screen contains important information about this
program.
[B] Boss Key
What self-respecting, contemporary software package
would be complete without a Boss Key screen. Press any
key to return to the main screen.
[Q] Quit
Pressing this key will display a screen, then exit to
the system. Control-C and Control-Break will also cause
this to occur.
I welcome questions or comments about this program. Post a
message for Terry Toolin on the Trading Post BBS, in Phoenix, or
on the Hypermail network. I review the PCBoard and StarTrek
conferences on a regular basis.
